Poppies prefer a cool climate over hot weather. They grow best in loose, well drained soil. Scatter seeds during the fall or early spring as soon as the last winter snow recedes. Starting poppies at the edge of melting snow is recommended. Giganteum poppies grow to 30" - 36" in height and produce 3-7 GIANT flower heads per plant. The flowers can be up to 4" - 6" and began blooming early to mid summer. This variety has extra large white flowers with a lilac cross. A great flower to attract pollinating insects to your garden. Honeybees find them irresistible! Freeze seeds for 48 hours before sowing to increase the germination rate. Full sun to partial shade.
