Peppers

The chili pepper is the fruit of plants from the genus Capsicum, and are members of the nightshade family, Solanaceae. All species of wild capsicums have certain common characteristics: small, hot fruits that may be round, elongated or conical and are attached to the plant in an erect position. The seeds of these fruits are dispersed by birds that are not affected by the heat.

Pepper seeds germinate the best when started early indoors and then transplanted outdoors when temperatures are around 80 degrees.  Lower temperatures can permanently reduce plant productivity. Start the seeds indoor about 8 weeks before you want to transplant peppers to the outdoor garden.
